Additive


Any material or substance added to something else. Specifically, a substance added to a propellant

to achieve some purpose, such

as a more even rate of combustion, or a substance added to fuels or lubricants to improve them or give them some desired quality, such as tetraethyl lead added to a fuel as an antidetonation agent, or graphite, talc, or other substances added to certain oils and greases to improve lubrication qualities.
