Planetary Boundary Layer

That layer of the atmosphere from a planet's surface to the geostrophic
wind level including, therefore, the surface boundary
layer and the Ekman
layer. Above this layer lies the free
atmosphere. Also called friction layer, atmospheric boundary layer.
